Mountain bikers from all across Ireland will be flocking to Rostrevor on 19th & 20th July to take part in the 2014 Irish Downhill National Championships powered by Chain Reaction Cycles and Newry & Mourne District Council.

Entries are Now Open for the most prestigious event on the Irish mountain biking calendar which is expected to attract over 200 of the best downhill mountain bikers in the country, each pushing themselves to the limit to be crowned Irish National Champion 2014.

Race organiser, Glyn O’Brien explains, “This is the title every Irish mountain biker wants to win. It’s the race all the riders work towards through the off-season and build their training around so that they are fully prepared both mentally and physically.”

As a former Irish National Champion himself, Glyn believes that this year’s course will be the best that these championships have ever seen.

“We’ve definitely got a course worthy of a National Champion here in Rostrevor. It’s lightning quick but also offers some technically challenging rocky sections and a few serious jumps thrown in to guarantee plenty of air time, something that we know the crowds on the hill always enjoy.”

Glyn adds, “If anyone’s coming to watch a downhill mountain biking event for the first time, they’ll definitely not be disappointed with what’s on offer during these championships in Rostrevor.”

Spectators are encouraged to come down to soak up the atmosphere throughout the weekend and there will be plenty of information on MountainBikeNI.com including specific race timings and best viewing spots to catch all the thrills and spills on the trails.
